5. They have three different, but useful, specializations. With most classes, there are only one or two viable specs to DPS as. With warlocks, all three trees are useful in the different aspects of the game. Affliction is useful for steady damage over long periods of time, Destruction is useful for high amounts of burst damage, and Demonology is useful for having a pet or the warlock themselves tank.

6. They bring a decent amount of utility to groups and raids. Warlocks are usually sought for in both groups and raids because they can crowd control with fear and their pet?s seduction, they are the only class to have soul stones, and they can summon free health potions for everyone in their group. They can also summon anyone in the game as long as there are two other players to help. They also can cast debuffs on mobs which will help increase the other classes? usefulness.

7. They bring a high amount of DPS to groups and raids. On my warlock, I almost always top the damage meter in my groups and on my raids. I have done so with different specs as well. I have topped the meter as both Affliction and Destruction. This means that if played well, warlocks can be a group or raid?s best asset.

8. Warlocks are above-average PvP?ers. Once you obtain a decent amount of PvP gear, warlocks are very fun to PvP with. They can easily kill caster DPS classes and healers. Their only disadvantage is against melees, since warlocks have terrible mitigation against melees and melees have counters to almost every warlock?s escape maneuvers. However, I can almost always be on the top of the killing blow list with just a few deaths at the end of any battleground.

9. They can also be useful tanks for certain encounters. There have been numerous situations where I have tanked certain events. With the Demonology spec, warlocks can have a 20% damage reduction and as many hit points as a normal tank. The combination of the two makes them favorites when tanking mobs that deal elemental damage, as their weak armor is not an issue. If you enjoy playing different aspects of WoW, this can be a nice bonus.

The second key to doing well at Tri Peaks Solitaire is to form really long sequences, where you do not deal a card from the talon.

The Tri-Peaks scoring system will give you one additional point for every card you move in a sequence. So the first card you move gives you one point, the next card gives you two points, the next card gives you three points, and the next card gives you four points, etc. The sequence ends as soon as you deal from the talon, and the sequence begins at one point again.

This system is interesting because it often makes sense to not move cards as soon as you can.

There are 2 ways to illustrate this.

What do you think the difference in scoring would be between one 12-long sequence versus two 6-long sequences? Most people know the long sequence will outscore the shorter sequences, but not many people realise by how much!

The 12 long sequence gives us a score of 1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9+10+11+12, which is 78.

Surely the two 6-long sequences won't be too far behind?
Well, we get 1+2+3+4+5+6 for the first sequence. And then we 1+2+3+4+5+6 for the second sequence.

The total is only 42! Even though the same number of cards were removed, the difference in scores is 36 points!

Another way to illustrate this is to see what would happen if we extend out a long sequence.

What if instead of 12 card in the sequence, we could somehow remove 14 cards in sequence instead? Well, that would give us an extra 13+14 points, which is 27 extra points.

Adding two cards extra on the 12 card sequence almost resulted in as many points as two 6-card sequences!

As you can see, it really pays to form one really long sequence. You need to make sure you form one sequence of atleast 10 cards before you start getting a reasonable score.

Now, when Tri-Peaks Solitaire starts, you normally find you can form a reasonably long sequence. But rarely is it more than 10 cards. Don't use that sequence until you have studied the tableau carefully!

Look at the cards above the bottom layer. Look for a lot of cards all around the same rank. See if you can see any long sequences. When you do, see what cards are covering that sequence, and then work to remove those. DON'T remove cards that could make that sequence longer, even if you can play them in shorter sequences before hand. You want to aim for one sequence, as long as you can humanly make, to get really good scores in Tri Peaks Solitaire.

This has to be balanced against the first key though, which is to uncover the peaks. You don't want to hold on too long for that perfect sequence, because it may mean that you don't get to uncover the peaks.

Play a few games with the above in mind, and you're sure to see your Tri Peaks scores increase in no time!

Many board games require an element of timed rounds. Each player has a set amount of time to complete a certain task to try and gain points for themselves or their team. This has been an element of board games for quite some time, although over the ages these board games have used different means to produce this effect. In today's electronic age, most games come with some form of battery operated timer, one that will work much like an egg timer. You twist a knob and it ticks the time down until it reaches the deadline, where it will beep or ring, alerting players that the time frame is over. However, in the past, these electronic timers weren't as common and most board games provided a sand timer for timekeeping purposes.

These sand timers were shaped like miniature hourglasses and contained enough sand to count down anywhere in between thirty seconds to three or five minutes. It all depended on how long the game would give players to complete the task at hand. These timers would generally work by having all players ready themselves for the task and then one player would flip the timer over to begin the round. The responsibility of watching the timer often fell upon either one player or the entire group, for when the sand had run out, it was the responsibility of the player to announce to the group that time was up and the round was over.

Games where everyone participated, such as Boggle or Scattergories, would require the entire group to keep track of the timer as everyone was working during that time period to score as many points as possible. One player would generally flip the timer as another player uncovered the list of words or game play space that players would need to consult to play the game. Then, as the timer would slowly run out, players would need to periodically check the timer.

Other games that used sand timers, however, were often team games and the team which was not trying to score points at the moment was normally put in charge of the timer. One player would handle the sand timer, watching it carefully to ensure that not an extra second was granted to the other team while another player would monitor the team itself carefully, ensuring that no cheating was inadvertently taking place.

Sand timers had both great benefits and drawbacks. They were almost always supplied with the board game and, since it did not run on batteries, didn't cost anything to maintain. Additionally, they were tested so that they were always accurate. If one broke, however, one would need to buy a replacement sand timer. One of the drawbacks is that, during a game where everyone was trying to participate, one might not notice that the sand timer had run out and extra time might have been granted to players. An electronic timer would always loudly alert that the time was over, although most of these timers would make ticking noises while counting down, which could greatly distract. While sand timers have almost completely faded out of board games during these contemporary times, they still are a nostalgic bit of board game fans.

In virtually every racing jurisdiction around the world-with one rather notable exception, the United States-aspiring jockeys are required to complete a formal training program before being allowed to become professional race riders. After Hall of Fame jockey Chris McCarron retired in 2002, he set out to establish such a program in the United States.

The result was the North American Racing Academy, located at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Ky., which opened in 2006.

"A school for training jockeys is desperately needed in the U.S.," McCarron said upon the academy's opening. "We see so many riders come here from other countries where they are required to attend and graduate from a training program only to compete very successfully here in the States. I am firmly convinced their success can be directly attributed to their education and training."

Since opening as strictly a training school for jockeys, the North American Racing Academy has since expanded to include educational programs for virtually every aspect of the Thoroughbred racing and breeding business. Students can learn the vocations of Thoroughbred groom, barn foreman, trainer, racing official, track maintenance, and racetrack management among others. The programs consist of four semesters and take two years to complete.

According to the NARA Web site, students in the jockey program spend three hours a day gaining hands-on experience at the barn and three additional hours in the classroom. Each prospective jockey is is required to feed, exercise and groom two horses a day. The three-hour hands on portion also consists of one hour riding on the track and one hour on a mechanical horse.

The classroom curriculum focuses on a wide array of topics. First-semester courses include introductions to equine studies, racehorse care and equine physiology among others. The second semester include introductory courses to commercial breeding practices and overall racing operations. Later semesters include such classes as identifying lameness in a horse, racing stable operations and advanced racehorse riding principles.

Financial assistance for NARA is available through Bluegrass Community and Technical College, which helps administer the program. Graduates of the program are awarded an Associate Degree in Equine Science.

According to NARA, graduates of the school's jockey program have already competed in more than 11,000 races and accumulated purse earnings of more than $16 million. The school also said more than 80 percent of NARA graduates have been successfully placed in internships or full-time positions as jockeys, exercise riders, or racing stable and breeding farm employees.

"Horsemen have said loudly that they are in constant need of well-trained and willing workers," said NARA Executive Director Remi Bellocq. "There currently exists, industry-wide, a heavy reliance on foreign labor, which has become unreliable given the lack of immigration reform in recent years. As such, they come to us for the locally sourced equine industry workforce we can help provide."
